Trad and Anchor, Multi-Pitch 2-Day Course

Intermediate Level Course: Schedule a private 1:1 or 1:2 anytime.

This 2-Day Course is designed to take you to the next step in your climbing, the multi-pitch trad world. With professional guidance the skills taught and practiced on this course will take you to the great faces and walls of the world.

Skills Taught but not limited to:

  • Pre-climb planning, climbers resources, and how to read route descriptions.
  • Gear selection.
  • Rock quality evaluation.
  • Gear placement evaluation.
  • Gear placement as it pertains to movement on route.
  • Risk management.
  • Trad anchors.
  • Rope handling.
  • Lead belaying and top managed belays.
  • Lead climbing psychology and communication.
  • Advanced rappelling and descent options.
PREREQUISITES:
Comfortable climbing 5.7
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Rock shoes, harness, helmet, belay device (PPAS recommends the Petzl Reverso or Black Diamond ATC Guide), traditional gear with full range through 3.5 inch cams and full single set of nuts, quick draws (10-12), 2-3 double length shoulder slings, 1 20-foot section 6-7mm cordellette, 5 locking carabineers and a nut cleaning tool.

Introduction to Rock Self-Rescue For Climbers 1-Day

Intermediate Level Course: Schedule a private 1:1 or 1:2 anytime.

Learn the skills necessary to implement a single-pitch rescue. This course offers the tools needed to take care of the problem before it becomes a institutional rescue. Truly a must have skill set for all climbers.

Skills taught but not limited to:

  • Escaping the belay and belay takeover.
  • Hands free.
  • Proper release of Guide ATC.
  • Rescue raises (3:1) and lowers.
  • Ascending the rope.
  • Knots and hitches for rescue scenarios.
PREREQUISITES:
Prior climbing experience, solid rope handling skills.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Rock shoes, approach shoes,harness, helmet, belay device (PPAS recommends the Petzl Reverso or Black Diamond ATC Guide), (2) 20' sections 6or7mm cordellette uncut, (1) uncut section of 6mm cord, (2) double length slings, (2) shoulder length slings, (6) non-locking carabineers, (5) locking carabineers, belay/rappel device.

Rock Multi-Pitch Self-Rescue, 2-Day

Advanced Level Course: Schedule a private 1:1 or 1:2 anytime.

Learn the skills necessary to implement a multi-pitch rescue when you're a long way from the trailhead. You and the gear you have are your teams rescue resources. A must have skill set for all trad and sport climbers.

This training is an intensive 2-Day Course designed for most one-on-one and one-on-two rock rescue applications. This course is modeled after the standards applied by the American Mountain Guides Association. As part of the course, students will be trained and asked to perform a simulated rescue that includes the following.

Skills taught but not limited to:

  • Escaping the belay.
  • Rescue raises (2:1 drop loop, 3:1, 5:1, 6:1) and lowers.
  • Proper release of Guide ATC.
  • Ascending the rope.
  • Rescue rappel systems (tandem and counter balance).
  • Knots and hitches useful to rescue scenarios.
PREREQUISITES:
Prior climbing experience, solid rope handling skills.
