Couloirs & Steep Snow Climbing, 1-Day

Active ++AlpineColorado SpringsNo Experience NeededPublic CourseSnow

Spring and summer (yes, after June 21!) in the Rockies is couloir climbing season.  We can get into steeper terrain and work on techniques to improve safety and efficiency in this more vertical domain. Steep snow gullies or couloirs often facilitate faster and more efficient travel in the mountains, but this territory presents specific risks.  With proper technique and terrain management, we can mitigate these hazards.  This course takes place in alpine terrain above 11,500′ in the Glen Cove cirque on Pikes Peak.
