- Pikes Peak
- Above Colorado Springs
Truly one of our favorites. This hike and scramble has a bit of everything and is appropriate for any fit participant. This ascent has options and can be tailored to your liking. With an early start, the route can be completed as a one-day hike or as a multi-day hike with a camping option. Offered year round.
This strenuous single day hike begins at 11,750 feet near the Pikes Peak Highway above Glen Cove. We descend for about 900′ to an elevation of 10,800′ and then we steadily begin climbing a rocky trail above tree line where we scramble along the north wall of the Bottomless Pit. We gain over 3,000′ on this beautiful climb. You will enjoy great views as you practice efficient movement in exposed magnificent alpine terrain.
Our route has the option to allow for roped low fifth class rock scrambling. At the top of the ridge we intersect the Barr Trail. Here we have the option to continue to the summit or turn around. 11 Miles, 6-10 hours for ascent and descent. The two day option offers a great introduction to alpine camping with a stellar route the following day; additional charges apply for the overnight.
