This 24-hour course introduces students to managing avalanche hazards in the backcountry. You’ll learn a repeatable process for assessing and managing risk, preparing for and executing backcountry trips, communicating and making decisions in avalanche terrain, and performing rescue techniques if an avalanche occurs.

Students must be able to travel off-trail on ungroomed or unmaintained terrain and bring suitable equipment for snow travel. No other prerequisites are required for this course.
