North Cascades National Park and Mount Baker, Washington

North Cascades National Park is widely regarded as the Alps of North America. Covering over 500,000 acres, the park boasts jagged peaks, cascading glaciers and waterfalls, and deep valleys ripe with wildlife. Notable peaks like Koma Kulshan (Mount Baker) and Mount Shuksan are perfect places to learn and apply the Mountaineering and Ski Mountaineering craft. Forbidden Peak’s West Ridge is one of the 50 Classic Climbs of North America. The Torment-Forbidden Traverse is a famous, highly sought after alpine objective that commands the skyline over the Boston Basin. The list goes on and on. There is simply no shortage of adventure in the North Cascades!

Climb with our experienced and highly trained guides. All lead guides are AMGA Certified Alpine Guides. We are here to help you; challenge yourself, achieve your goals and have fun doing it with well planned guidance.

3-day sample itinerary:
Day 0:

  • Meet the day prior to climb and review gear/logistics

Day 1:

  • Meet in the morning at the trailhead
  • Hike into area and set up bivy or camp
  • Review glacier travel and other skills if req’d
  • Scout conditions and dinner before bed

Day 2:

  • Wake early and start ascent, alpine start by headlamp likely depending on objective
  • Climbing objective(s)
  • Descend back to bivy, dinner and celebration

Day 3:

  • Break camp and hike back to upper trailhead
  • This day can be used as a weather back-up from Day 2

Optional 4-day sample itinerary addition:

  • Day 0 and 1: remain the same.
  • Day 2: becomes a full skills day and training
  • Day 3: becomes Summit/Objective day
  • Day 4: break camp and hike out

Climber Expectations:
Previous climbing experience required. For big days in the North Cascades our preference is that we’ve climbed with you in the past. If you are new to us, we’ll expect a climbing resume for review.

Trip Includes:
Overnight bivy permits. All group climbing and safety equipment. Personal climbing gear can be rented if required. Climbing/Skiing trips are lead by an AMGA/IFMGA Mountain Guide.

Not Included:
Transportation, personal climbing gear, clothing, food and travel/medical insurance.
