Monarch Pass Backcountry Skiing and Splitboarding

Located on the Continental Divide at 11,312 feet in the Sawatch mountains of central Colorado, Monarch Pass connects the communities of Gunnison and Salida via US Highway 50.  Averaging 350 inches of snow a year, advanced skiers can access a wide variety of bowls and tree runs directly from the road.  Monarch Pass skis well from early winter through mid-spring.  Current logging operations on USFS land will open new terrain for tree skiing, but may also heighten the need to choose backcountry lines carefully!
